Ballet Folklorico

The ballet folklorico class will teach the beautiful traditional dances of various parts of Mexico. Dancing folklorico is fun and the priority will be to make sure our dancers are having fun and learning during our time together. Our dancers will learn the basic foot work and, most importantly, the skirt work. Dancers will receive a flyer on the first day of class outlining what they will need for the class.

Japanese Chorus

El Marino Japanese Chorus was founded in the Fall of 2019 to give all students a fun and moving musical experience by singing together. Our goals are to cultivate the full potential within each child, introduce beautiful and fun Japanese songs, and build each student’s skills and confidence through encouraging and creative rehearsals and performances. It is an excellent opportunity to learn Japanese. No Japanese speaking ability necessary.

Latin American Arts & Crafts

Enrich your child with more cultural competence, awareness and appreciation. Your child will learn about art throughout Latin America, from artisan art to famous artists from around Latin America. At times, we will also talk about culture, traditions, geography or history behind the art. In addition, your child will continue to practice their Spanish. SIP and JIP welcome.

Latin Cooking

Would you like your child to explore and try new foods? Does your child love gastronomy from Latin America? Does your child like to cook?

This is a hands-on cooking class taught in Spanish. SIP and JIP welcome. Students will receive a printout of the recipes cooked during the term on the last day of class.

Spanish Homework Club

Spanish Homework Club helps your child complete all of their Spanish homework Monday-Thursday. In addition to homework, it also helps those who are struggling with their reading, writing, and understanding of the Spanish Language. Every day we make sure the students finish and understand their homework and whatever they’re learning at school that day.

Nihon Buyo

This is a unique opportunity to learn a style of dance that is more than 200 years old. The Bando School of Japanese Classical Dance is headquartered in Tokyo, Japan and was established at the start of the 1800s. Bando Mitsugoro III, who was known to be a master in Nihon Buyo, is the founder of Bando-ryu. The origin of Bando-ryu style of buyo(dance) comes from Kabuki. Nihon Buyo literally means Japanese dance, ‘Nihon’ meaning Japan and ‘Buyo’ meaning dance.

Spanish Storytelling

Storytelling is a great way to enhance language, memory, creativity and comprehension. Students will each create a felt storyboard, and share their stories. Then they will create a digital storyboard, which will be printed. All reading and activities will be in Spanish.
